At the same time, anti-virus software developed by Zhuhai Kingsoft Co Ltd won the title of China Famous Brand Product. It was reportedly the second time for the China Famous-Brand Strategy Accelerating Board to release the list which covers the Gree air conditioner, ZTE Zhongxing SPC switch developed by ZTE Corp, ZPMC container crane produced by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co Ltd, and the Sunshine fine woolen cloth produced by Jiangsu Sunshine Group Co Ltd. Including the two released last year, there are only six brands winning the honourary title from among thousands of products all over the country, and Gree is the only air conditioner manufacturer. Zhu Jianghong, board chairman of Gree Group and Gree Electric Appliances, said that the honour has put lifelong pressure on Gree. Shortsighted profit will never be the goal of Gree; on the contrary, more efforts will be made to protect and maintain the brand that has been forged over the past 15 years, he said. Gree has been leading the industry for 15 successive years in air conditioner output, sales volume and market occupation rate. It harvested sales revenue of 18.2 billion yuan ($2.2 billion) with more than 10 million air conditioners sold in 2005, ranking first in the world. Gree's marketing network has covered more than 100 countries and territories in the world and has registered 20 million customers. It has also entered the mainstream sales channel and projected positive image in many countries. Apart from the Gree and Kingsoft brands, eight other products including egg rolls produced by Zhuhai Yuanlang Food Co and printing ink by Zhuhai Letong Ink Co also won the title of Guangdong Famous-Brand Product. Up to now, one Chinese World-Famous Brand Product, four China Famous Brand Products, 15 Guangdong Provincial Famous Brand Products and three products granted as "product exemption from inspection of CCIQ" have been registered in the city. Each Chinese World Famous Brand Product winner is expected to obtain a 3 million yuan ($364,000) award and each Guangdong Provincial Famous Brand Product a 1 million yuan ($121,000) award from the provincial government. A respective 300,000 yuan ($36,400) and 100,000 yuan ($12,100) award from the Zhuhai municipal government will also be granted to the winners, according to a government official. (ZD News) | |||||
