Flextronics helps customers design, build, ship, and service electronics products through a network of facilities in over 30 countries on five continents. Deng warmly welcomed McNamara and his group. He said that Flextronics and its subsidiaries in Zhuhai play an important role in boosting the special economic zone's economy and vowed to support their development and solve their problems. The Flextronics Industrial Park in Doumen has developed rapidly over the past 15 years in multi-level circuit board and installation, computer case and mobile phone manufacturing, as well as logistics. It had a gross industrial output value of 36 billion yuan ($4.36 billion), exports $2.9 billion and sales revenue $3.5 billion in 2005. Some 34,000 employees work in the industrial park and the number will hit 60,000 next year and 100,000 in 2010. Mayor Wang said that the renovation of Zhufeng Avenue near the industrial park began on June 28 and is to be completed by the end of November. Land for support living facilities has been appropriated and other problems concerning taxation, social security, medical treatment and education are being solved, he explained. Liu Zhenxin, a member of the Standing Committee of the municipal Party Committee; and municipal Party Committee Secretary General Wang Shejian; Vice Mayor Chen Honghui who also is vice commissioner of China Customs Gongbei; Flextronics Asia President Chen Wenxing; Flextronics China Senior Vice President Tim Dinwiddie; and Fu Jun, general manager of Flextronics Industrial Co, were at the meeting.
