By the end of 2002,19 conglomerates of the world's top 500 had invested in 37 projects in Zhuhai, with a total investment of US$1.59 billion and total registered capital of US$0.68 billion. They included Exxon and Coca-Cola of the US, Daimler Chrysler and Siemens of Germany, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sumitomo, Matsushita Electric, Toshiba and Canon of Japan, Carrefour of France and Flextronics of Singapore, covering a wide range of industries such as petrochemicals, aircraft maintenance, electronic and electric appliances, integrated circuits, and daily necessities.
