Adaptability-excellent performance and operational characteristics meeting the requirements of take-off & landing at plateau airports on hot days and flight over high elevation obstacles on rugged air routes in the western region of China and other places of the world.
 
West China is characterized by relatively primitive airports and lots of obstacles on airlines. So airplanes must have powerful take-off and climbing performance. It should be able to not only take off and land in a relatively short distance without reducing load but also operate in rough climatic environment. All these conditions ask for very good performance of aircraft.

ARJ jet is very suitable for the complex geographic environment of China. ARJ jet is designed with the Kunming Airport as critical condition. And 57 airlines in West China are used to test its airworthiness to ensure that it fits the high plateau and high temperature of West China on the basis of the realization of economic benefit.

ARJ21 is the first airplane designed for the natural environments of China completely in the world. It represents ample advantages on the adaptability at west airlines and west airports.

The width of ARJ cabin is 123.7'' (3
14M)while the width of cabins of the competitions such as CRJ700 and CRJ900 is 100.5''(255M), the width of cabins of ERJ170 and ERJ190 is 108''(274M). Among the similar regional aircrafts, ARJ has the broadest cabin. The row distance of ARJ business class is 38'' and that of ARJ tourist class is 32'', which represents a fairly spacious arrangement. The baseline type and stretched type of ARJ has a lower cargo module of 177M3 and 209M3 respectively. The height of cargo module is approximate to 1M. Undoubtedly, more space will be offered to tourists' luggage. Comprehensive factors including lines, colors, patterns, illumination and practicability etc. have been considered on the decoration and service facilities in the cabin to guarantee that passengers would enjoy the best comfort ability.

ARJ21 is comfortable not only because it has advanced cabin configuration such wide seats, broad array pitch, big space between aisle seat and sidewall, wide aisle, high ceiling and low noise that are as good as or even better than some trunk line airplanes but also because it embodies engineering psychology theory. The pleasing aesthetic design of cabin and flight mechanics features creates superior quality. 
 
Economy-competitive low DOC and LCC.
 
Cost control is the basic principle for success of civil airplane. In the civil airplane market, clients don't care for cost price of airplane but market price of airplane.

ARJ is newly developed airplane. We strictly controlled the LCC of airplane at the very beginning of the design. The long service life structure lays emphasis on high reliability and maintainability, so the reliability and safety of the airplane are enhanced while its maintenance cost is lowered. The application of updated turbofan engine characterized by low oil consumption improves the economical efficiency of the airplane. The advanced R&D measures led by information technology and international production management and quality control system greatly reduce the cost of research and production 
 
Commonality-maximum commonality with mainstream 150-seaters in terms of performance and operational characteristics supporting seamless services.
 
Another design goal of ARJ jet is to keep maximum commonality with mainstream fleet of 150 seats. It not only has airworthiness and comfortability similar to mainstream fleet of 150 seats but also keeps maximum commonality on cockpit human-computer interface, maintenance human-computer interface and relative operating program etc. so as to lower the training cost airline companies spend in changing pilots and enhance its flexibility.
 
Family Development-in the sequence of baseline, stretched, shrunk, cargo and business jet derivative configurations.
