The 2017 VEX Robotics Exhibition and China Qualifying Competition will be held Oct. 19-22, 2017 in the brand new Zhuhai International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition Center, where the biennial Airshow China takes place, according to Zhuhai Exhibition & Convention Group, operator of the center and co-organizer of the event.
The event is part of the qualifying competitions of the VEX Robotics Championship, initiated by the US based VEX Robotics, an international event which aims to promote robotics education to young students. It nurtures young students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by providing interactive competition platform with designable and programmable robots; also, it reinforces students' real-case solving skills and teamwork spirit by providing hands-on experience and idea-sharing community. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.
Matches are played on a preset field throughout. Two Alliances – one “red” and one “blue” – composed of two Teams each, compete in each Match. The object of the game is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by Stacking Cones on Goals, by Scoring Mobile Goals in Goal Zones, by having the Highest Stacks, and by Parking Robots.
Representing the highest level of VEX events in China, the competition in Zhuhai will be participated by around 300 teams who have qualified the provincial level tournaments. The final winners will represent China for the 2017 Asia Pacific Robotics Competition, taking place in New Zealand in the end of the year.
